    Unhappy bedding sks

i put a Tapco stock on my chinese SKS. It moves in the stock so I inquired about bedding it & was told that plastic stocks can't be bedded. Anybody else heard of this?

Based solely on your question, I'd say your in over your head with regards to bedding. Why did you decide to go with a aftermarket Tapco stock?

It's Chinese sks and the wood is a sickening orange color. I also thought t tapco wood be lighter, but I think they are the same weight. I did ask a gunsmith about it and was told you can't. I don't think I would try it my self.

According to what I've read, the Tapco stocks make the rifle heavier and also make it front heavy. I'd vote to refinish and stick with the original stock. That's something you can learn to do yourself (on the web) and it's kind of a neat project.

Jb weld behind the receiver. scuff up the zytel to get a good bond, and use some wax or soap as a release agent.

I sent an e mail to tapco and they said you can't bed their stock.
