The state police have the ability to check on you instantaneously and reject your application. Why it took them a while to do yours is the question.

One thing about that app that gets me is...they ask if you were ever convicted of a crime where the punishment could have been 2 years or more but they don't provide a list of what crimes have what possible sentences.

That info is readily available to the public at large. See the .pdf attached to this post:

Good post but here is the LTCF form if you don't want to read the whole post.. Seems pretty clear with a drug conviction he lied on the form.

    http://bedfordcountypa.org/uploads/A...y_Firearms.pdf

For the OP look at question D.
HAVE YOU EVER BEEN ADJUDICATED DELINQUENT FOR A CRIME ENUMERATED IN §6105 OR FOR AN OFFENSE UNDER THE CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE, DRUG, DEVICE AND COSMETIC ACT?
Not sure what drug he plead guilty to but Marihuana (their spelling) is on the list.

Here is the THE CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE, DRUG, DEVICE AND COSMETIC ACT

    http://www.legis.state.pa.us/WU01/LI...11/0/0007..PDF

The PA LTCF form is stricter than the laws for purchasing / possession. There is no 2 year clause. That is why the OP is good to own a firearm, just not carry one.

We shouldn't need permission to carry and prohibition is just as bs.
Do the crime, pay the price, clean slate unless you get popped again. Even then prior crimes should be used to make your punishment more befitting. Not infringe once you're deemed safe for society again

Definitely this^^^^^^^^here is a little info on the recent laws
Offenses Eligible for Expungement Under Pennsylvania’s New Law

Under the new law, those persons with 2nd and 3rd degree misdemeanors, which do not involve violence, are able to seek the expungement so long as they have not had any other convictions within the past 10 years, if the original conviction was for a 2nd degree misdemeanor and the offender wast under 25, or 7 years in the case of a 3rd degree misdemeanor. A certain type of very minor offense, referred to as a summary offense, may be expunged after the passing of 5 or more years. For those in Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition programs, involving cases such as DUI’s, though not including sex related crimes against minors, the trigger of the expungement may be automatic upon successful completion of the program.

The expanded list of offenses that are now eligible to be expunged includes substance related offenses such as DUI’s and controlled substance and drug paraphernalia possession, as well as 2nd degree misdemeanors such as larceny, identity theft and reckless endangerment. Assault and battery offenses which have been graded as mutual-combat 3rd degree misdemeanors are an exception to the violent offense ineligibility rule.
