Rep Cruz - HB 1771 - Gun Buyback Program
Another in a long list of anti-gun bills introduced by Rep Angel Cruz
BTW Rep Angel Cruz owns guns and has LTCF permit so much for that myth just owning a gun makes you automatically pro-gun .
ALWAYS Keep that in mind any time you read a anti-gun person that the media quotes as a gun owner /hunter supports reasonable common sense gun control is AG propaganda. NOTE: red text and highlight was not in orginal memo

Gun Buyback Program
*
In the near future, I plan to introduce legislation amending Title 18 (Crimes and Offenses) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes to establish a statewide gun buyback program.
Gun buyback programs have been administered across the country in our communities (illegally) for decades. The concept is simple: a person trades an unwanted gun for an incentive – cash or gift certificate – at an event hosted by officials. Once collected, the weapons are (sometimes) checked as to whether they were stolen and some localities check whether any were used in a crime and most often they are destroyed. (unless some more valuable undocumented firearms go missing after collection)
My legislation would establish a statewide gun buyback program within the Office of Attorney General. The Attorney General would be required to administer the program in conjunction with the state police and local law enforcement, although participation in the program would be voluntary for local officials. Anyone surrendering a firearm is able to do so anonymously and without prosecution. Regulations issued by the Attorney General’s office are to provide guidelines for local officials and communities in administering the program and authorizing (making what in now illegal- to - legal) local gun buyback programs. (which handguns are currently illegal transferred without prosecution at most gun buy back in PA, sometimes rewards criminals to profit by selling illegal hot guns with cash and no questions asked why not)
By creating a statewide gun buyback program, Pennsylvania is taking a step in reducing the increasingly high rates of firearm related deaths, removing guns that could potentially be stolen and raising public awareness about the dangers from the improper use of guns. Other states, including New York, New Jersey, California, Texas, Louisiana and Delaware have recognized the value of implementing a statewide buyback program and introduced similar legislation.
Please join me in cosponsoring this legislation. If just one weapon surrendered saves one life, then my legislation establishing a statewide program is a good thing. Thank you in advance for your consideration.

Anyone that legally wants to be rid of unwanted handgun in PA can take them to FFL dealer and legal transfer them and might even get paid a fair price that most gun buy backs often don't.Learn how to really SUPPORT the 2nd Amendment cause Go To http://www.foac-pac.org/

Re: Rep Cruz - HB 1771 - Gun Buyback Program
If one taken gun saving one (conjectured) life makes it all worthwhile, what makes taking a gun used to murder one life (or more) and losing the ability to prosecute the murderer through "no questions asked" equally worthwhile or more so? What makes an already taken life worth less than some conjectured future life (that will likely be taken by some other means if no gun is available)??

Anyone that comes up with the suggestion of gun buy backs is just a moron plain and simple. At least when they come out with the idea the morons are clearly identifying themselves as such.
Corruption is the default behavior of government officials. JPC

Re: Rep Cruz - HB 1771 - Gun Buyback Program
They organize buy-backs regardless, this would at least legitimize and legalize state sponsored buy-backs. While it has its anti-gun undertone, it isn't fully an anti-gun bill.
One thing would need addressed is forcing the LEO's to followup on true ownership and returning any stolen firearms. The anonymous thing needs dealt with as well. And acquired legal Title I firearms should be sold to licensed dealers/distributors instead of destroyed. The buy-backs could sustain revenue to do these. Folks who don't want their guns are going to use these buy-backs regardless, so at least legalize the acquisition since these buy-backs are technically illegal now in PA.RIP: SFN, 1861, twoeggsup, Lambo, jamesjo, JayBell, 32 Magnum, Pro2A, mrwildroot, dregan, Frenchy, Fragger, ungawa, Mtn Jack, Grapeshot, R.W.J., PennsyPlinker, Statkowski, Deanimator, roland, aubie515, SteveWag

Maybe this would stop the president of the PGCA from selling parts from the buyback guns he collects in Pittsburgh...

Just another hair brained idea from a state representative who apparently can only introduce anti-gun ideas. His obsession borders on insanity and as such, this yet another anti gun proposal will get little or no attention. By the way, from whose budget does the cost of such buyback come out of. Is the AG budget going to get a hit? Or maybe the highest paid gasoline tax in the country will fund it, such gas pump taxes apparently do not go towards road modernization.

Well he should be the first in line to turn over his guns then. If he isn't then he is just a hypocrite.
