    Default Range Report!

Went to the range today. My father (who is 72 years young) met me there.

Two weeks ago we met at the range and I was amazed at how well my Ruger New Vaquero performed. It was amazing! Steel plates at 20 yards fell as quick as I could pull the trigger.

Alas, I think the Ruger must have been having a bad day today. I could not have hit the side of a barn from the inside!

Of course I am not going to take the blame for such a poor showing. It must have been the Ruger.

Perhaps it was just having an off day. Too much stress, too humid, wrong kind of oil. Hell I was using any excuse I could think of!

In the end it was still a beautiful afternoon. The weather was great. Two other gentlemen were there and we got into quite a discussion (BS session).

On the way home I explained to the Ruger that if it doesn't get with the program I'll have it melted down & turned into a box of stainless steel bolts.

I sure hope I didn't hurt its little ballistic feelings.

OK, this post has nothing to offer. No wondrous discovery. No educational value. Basically a waste of bandwidth.

Pictures of what? The targets I missed? The discouraged look on my face?

I will post pics of the New Vaquero as soon as I get it cleaned up.

I really like it and plan to order a set of Wolff springs and wood grips for it.

A fellow who works here has a pair of them as he is very much involved with Cowboy Action Shooting.

He installed the Wolff springs and brought them in last week to show me. The difference is incredible.

I have an early model Vaquero, 7 1/2" stainless in 45 colt. My wife and I both love shooting it. I bought it recently in a "package deal" and thought I'd sell it until I shot it. I'm hooked!! It's a great weapon and accurate as..........! Have fun with yours.

OK, just to give my original post validity here is my Ruger New Vaquero.

It is Stainless Steel (obviously) with the 4 5/8" barrel. It is a .357 Magnum as I wanted to be able to shoot .38's and save money. I have yet to fire a .357 Magnum round through it.

I quit hunting circa 1994 but if we have a mild winter this year I may take the little beast for a walk in the woods during deer season.

That is unless I have it melted down & turned into a box of SS bolts!

BTW, I bought mine new from Juniata Trade outside of Breezewood for $460.00. I later heard East Coast has them for the same price. Just an FYI.
