The lack of police coverage is all the more reason not to comply with their gun laws IMO. God only knows what happens in the outback.

Not even the outback... You can go 2 hours out of the cities and end up in dense bushland with no one around. People disappear all the time never to be found again. Australia inland is relatively undeveloped compared to the USA.
