    The only mindset, or image that needs concern is would a rational person believe that their life was in severe or mortal danger, that it would require the use of lethal action to stop that threat in this situation.

    This is the only image one wants to convey after the threat is stopped.

    I'm surprised you didn't get more replies saying that after you collect your wits, take a cell phone photo of the weapon. If that weapon disappears you are in a much worse situation justifying your actions

    Just don't let the police know that you took photos with your phone. They could confiscate your phone as evidence and of course you know to password protect or finger print access to phone.

    Why not take pictures of all your weapons while at home, and leave those pictures there for safe keeping?

    Take a picture of the attackers weapon.

    Why not just wear a body camera 24/7 and don't record audio.
