Default Interested in picking up an SKS

I already own a Nagant, and I actually rather enjoy the bolt action. I was wondering if picking up an SKS would be as much fun as the Nagant or would sacing up the extra 2 or 300 for an AK be worth it? What do you fine folks think>?

The SKS is very nice and more accurate then and AK, more for accurate long range shooting, that one is on my list of guns to get.
But if you are asking me, SKS or AK, if you have the extra dough, get an AK.
The AK's are fun.....and just plain bad ass.

I have both. I shoot the SKS more than the AK, but not for any reason I can really put my finger on. Depends on your definition of fun to say which would be better. If you want to do mag dumps, the AK is the way to go. If it's medium range plinking, the SKS may be better.

It's also a matter of personal preference and ergonomics. The SKS has a traditional rifle stock while the AK has the pistol grip.

I have fun shooting all guns, so I say get one of each!

I think SKSs should have a place in everyone collection, they are accurate, fun to shoot, fast to load (with strippers), and are easier on the pocket than an AK.
with the 10 round fixed magazine, I find myself not shooting nearly as much ammo when i take it to the range versus the AK, so it saves a bit there (for me at least).
It has a full wood stock which feels great when you bring it up, it has a lot more a feel of a rifle when you shoulder it, the AK feels a good bit smaller (to me at least).
I think either an AK or an SKS is a fine purchase and you will have a ton of fun with both.

Get your C&R license and collect the whole set.

Curio & Relic Federal Firearms License. Costs $30 for three years and lets you buy directly from wholesalers like these without having to go through the dealer transfer bull. Handguns too.

And at prices that will blow your mind if you've been going to places like Gander Mountain or Dunham's. Not all are C&R eligible but SKSs are.
