Henry Lever action scope hole plug screw
Just noticed one of my case-hardened Henry lever actions is missing the scope hole plug screws. Odd part is the ones missing are on my 38/357 and when I look at my case-hardened 30/30 to compare, the holes appear to be larger on the 38/357 (and 3 holes not 4 like on the 30-30). I haven't been able to find any info. on what size works - probably basic/standard but darned if I know - lol. Thanks.

Re: Henry Lever action scope hole plug screw
I've emailed a question re sight tapped holes to Henry and had a response within hours.
There are two kinds of guns. Those I have acquired, and those I hope to.

The thread should be #8-40 probally 1/8" or 3/16" in length, if they are through holes (no bottom) make sure you do not thread them in too much to touch the moving bits
Many well stocked hardware stores , in the isle of nuts & bolts cardboard bin section will often have a bin of "gun screws" the plug screws you need will have these

Your picture is the gun crying out - "Install a peep sight!" It and the attendant screws will work perfectly and give you a better sighting plane....

Re: Henry Lever action scope hole plug screw
To add to what SgtRecon posted, it's either 8-40 or 6-48. The first number is the screw diameter, the number after the dash is the threads per inch.

Re: Henry Lever action scope hole plug screw
You can also order plug screws with a shoulder. The shoulder gives them a bit of a bite and keeps them from turning out so easily.
