You might want a tad more for accuracy reasons. Also if gas operated you need enough for proper function.

Wait huh? You can't hunt with an SBR? Are you sure about that? Do you have a reference or anything?

Legal and ethical are two different things. But its irrelevant because a hi-point .45 isn't legal for hunting anything in this state.

You are correct, in which case I would say 3" is going to be minimum barrel length for ethical ground hog hunting, provided you get pretty close to them.

Didn't say you couldnt hunt with it, but it falls under handgun, not rifle. This is strait from a local game warden. He and I were talking about them at the range.

    MT1, et al,

I was incorrect. My High Point 4595 has a barrel length of 17-1/2". Removing 1-1/2" now looks like a viable option.
A Bullpup conversion and shortening the barrel by 1-1/2" will reduce the OAL to 25-1/2" (from 32").

BTW, if hunting was in my future, I sure wouldn't be using a PCC. My 7mm Magnum worked fine for anything I'd encounter in NA when I was hunting.

Why on earth would you go through the hassle of a tax stamp to save half an inch of overall length?
