Re: Barrel length
yep minimum 16" barrel and 26" overall to not fall into nfa territory. and unless you have a lathe and tools to shorten the barrel yourself its not worth it on a cheap highpoint.

Re: Barrel length
Your reference is word of mouth from a game warden? The only way you could discredit yourself any more is if you involved Russia or Kim Jong-un.
You said Short barreled rifles are not hunting rifles. Seeing how the state of Pennsylvania does not ever use the term "hunting rifle" then how exactly do you define a "hunting rifle" if not by:"a rifle you can hunt with."

Re: Barrel length
Always leave a measurable portion over the legal limit. ...one man's measuring tool may be different from another man's measuring tool.
And, if you shorten that OAL to under 26" you are creating a Title II SBR which will need a tax stamp just the same as had you shortened the barrel to under 16".RIP: SFN, 1861, twoeggsup, Lambo, jamesjo, JayBell, 32 Magnum, Pro2A, mrwildroot, dregan, Frenchy, Fragger, ungawa, Mtn Jack, Grapeshot, R.W.J., PennsyPlinker, Statkowski, Deanimator, roland, aubie515

Re: Barrel length
If there is one thing that the forum proves time after time is that much of what we hear from police officers, troopers, game wardens, constables and especially gun shop owners is wrong. They do usually provide a decent starting point to start research but by no means should the word or opinion of one of these professionals be considered the be all and end all fact of the matter.

Maybe similar to why medical doctors and attorneys confer with each other to see if they are missing something.
