Default Looking for opinions on what to do with MA "compliant" Pm9

    Hello Everyone,

I am a former MA resident and my warm-weather CCW was a Pm9. As you may or may not know the compliant version has a backwards working frame mounted-external safety (because snowflakes) and a loaded indicator. It is still a great pistol, I handled it well and shot decently with it. It is still in MA and I am on the fence about keeping it and using it the same way here in PA. For what it is worth, I am also left-handed so needless to say I kept the safety "off" at all times. I cannot think of a situation where I would need it.

Obviously without question I would love to have the "normal" version but I am not sure it is worth selling to a MA resident and purchasing it again here in PA.

Can the safety be removed or pinned open? Can the safety be filed down to reduce the profile?

Can the loaded indicator be removed without altering the function of the pistol? I see some file it down to reduce the profile, but to me it seams cleaner to remove it. I think the round just presses up on the bar so if you take it out then no foul?

Anyway does anyone have any input? Share what you would do? Make fun of me for being from MA?.......all are good.

    Best,

    Christen

The standard advise is to never defeat any safety, ever. Buy a new one. I have no advise on selling, that's up to you.

Sell it legally to another MA resident. Use the cash from the sale to buy a new one here.

I can't belong to a group like this and NOT look at the classifieds! I'm keeping my eyes peeled.

Unload that POS on some other subject in Massachusetts. Buy a real firearm the people that love freedom carry.

Just curious, whats the process like in MA getting a carry permit?
    Is it nothing but hassle?

It was a significant undertaking. The thing that bothers me the most is that isn't standard across the state. I grew up in a very poor area but I was fortunate to have a successful trade that allowed me to move to a nice area. It is night and day between red and green towns there. The green town I filed in pretty much bent over backwards to help me get an ltc. It isn't a right in that state it is a privilege, and there is nothing good about that. I can add it still took me quite some time to finally have the ltc in hand, approx 90 days and there is no promise it will happen by a certain number of days either.
