I thought about that, but I like getting as many different kinds of calibers as I can, just to have a variety. Thank you for suggesting it. I hope that if I can get her out to the state ranges and do some bench shooting that she may change her mind.

Not so bad for a woman out to 730 yds...

With all the weight of the Ruger Precision in 6.5 Creedmore, and the scope and the bipod, felt recoil is very light - according to the boss of it....

If she can shoot, you can hunt....

Don't worry, your spouse will out-shoot you at any distance with this caliber.

Lol, not likely. I've been shooting since I was in my teens, she has only been shooting for about a year or so. She would have been shooting longer but after a ricochet hit her, she got scared of firearms for awhile. She has only just recently gotten comfortable around them again.

If you were to get a 6.5 Creedmoor in a Ruger American Predator with the threaded muzzle you could put a muzzle brake on it and recoil would be a little more than a 22. You're not on the wrong track with the 6.5 Creedmoor it's a damn good cartridge and very accurate. And mine don't kick all that much as they are, that's one of the reasons I got a 6.5 CM to begin with because of the mild recoil.

If she doesn't like your AR, then either have her stick to .22 or put more time into getting her used to the AR. My wife initially didn't like the AR. After several sessions of making it fun for her, she now owns her own and can shoot the shit out of it (Bare bones 16" carbine with iron sights).

Man, some of you guys really need to learn how to read instead of going off on your own tangent.

OP, that is awesome that you won the rifle. The 6.5CM is the hottest caliber in the long range game the last few years.

Just remember that you can swap barrels/calibers in Savages in under 15 minutes, so if you like various calibers, you will love Savage rifles.

If your wife is opposed to shooting larger calibers, you really should invest in a suppressor. You will reduce felt recoil and it's quiet.

If I were you, I'd get the Axis II in 6.5 Creedmoor and have some fun.

Here is some good reading about the 30-06, 6.5 Creedmoor, and the 308.

My petite 98-pound wife fired a .303 SMLE without batting an eye when we were first married. About 6 years ago she was blasting away with an AK and loving it. Cheap answer for muzzle blast...ear plugs. Don't know what to offer re recoil. If weight is objectionable, it's a self-defeating situation. Muzzle brake helpful...but then there's the blast. Ear plugs and head set?
