Incidentally, my main carry is a 9mm Shield. i just like the way the Wanad points better than either that or the original PM. Guess if worse comes to worse my shiny new Bulgy will take over where the Wanad leaves off... IF I leave it off. I already have another Bulgy which has a dull finish but works good.

I assumed this was an Ungawa thread.

Please! It's not often that I introduce a thread at all, let alone one that whines and complains about something going wrong!
But I guess we're all 'titled to our 'plaints, right?

I believe Rock Island was referring to a "sticky Wanad" which could be misinterpreted as a sexual innuendo or a nickname of some nether region body part, modified by the descriptive adjective "sticky."

    Sticky, gooey, moist, cheesy, etc...
Yep, our threads are rife with those terminologies aren't they?
And I concede, I do seem to see that Ungawa guy posting in close proximity when I see it.

I unloaded the P83 tonight and gave it some careful scrutiny while running the slide.

It's the recoil spring and how it fits. I removed it, put it together, and racked it back and forth: Like butter. No resistance from the hammer spring to speak of. The recoil spring coils are apparently narrower at one end to prevent doubling back on the barrel tip, being a blowback. It does not fit right. When you get to the end of the pull the spring's range ends before the slide reaches the end of it's length and it gets wedged onto the barrel. That's why it got hung up. I wonder if it's even the right spring. I'm going to do some research.

Durrrrr! THE SPRING Was ON BACKWARDS! LOL!!!
I probably did myself at some point by thinking that the tight end shouldnt go on the barrel because it was made NOT to fit that way. Turns out you ARE supposed to force the spring on. Yep, this was my first blowback so I guess I didn't know better.

It's still a tight pull but now only half as much. Now it's tight and smooooothe. Much better. Now it just feels like the solid little trooper that it is.

    Switch guns??

    "Is it plugged in?"

Glad to hear it was simple. The same malady can affect the PM Makarov, whose recoil spring is directional, with the "tight" end sliding onto the barrel first. If a PM's recoil spring is installed backwards, it frequently won't cycle far enough to strip another round from the mag and chamber it. I bought three PM Makarovs with backwards springs for real cheap because they were believed to be defective. All three were "repaired" in less than 10 seconds each.

Nice! Now that I know that little market secret I'll be on the lookout for it. Thanks for the tip.
Also, now I know why the rounds were getting tripped up on the way out of the mag. And maybe now I know what was really happening with those Critical Defense rounds I tried which got hung up and had the slugs pushed right into the cases by the action. That just happened with a FMJ today for the first time, so maybe it's not just the milspec feed ramp which caused it.

Tight ends of springs always go on first. You wouldn't want the spring scraping and possibly sticking. Just a general observation over many actions.
