.357 magnum loads
Decided to powdercoat a pile of bullets and load them up today. The Coonan classic is itching for a range date, and I need to sight in the new scope on the Ruger 77\357.

Re: .357 magnum loads
Good on ya'.
It is refreshing to see a new thread about shooting and reloading on Poofa.
I reload a lot of .357 for revolver and rifle. It's a very versatile round. Lead, coated, plated, jacketed. My S&Ws like them all, but the rifle favors plated and jacketed.
Let us know how the powder coated work out.

Re: .357 magnum loads
I made 250. All powdercoated. I find that I can push the plain base 158's to maximum levels without any ill affects. The 125's I haven't fired in my rifle as of yet. So far, I've powdercoated 9mm, 45acp, 45 colt, and 357 magnum. The 9mm I add a coat for 38's if I want, and also work in 380.
I use these 357's in a ruger security six and Blackhawk, a ruger 77/357 rifle, and a coonan classic 357 semiauto pistol. I've noticed that powdercoated bullets do not smoke and are very accurate. The cost is all but nothing. Now the most expensive component is the primer.

Great job. If you're OK with it, when you figure out which loads work best, would you mind passing along your reloading data???
Thanks in advance for your work!- bamboomaster

Re: .357 magnum loads
Nope, don't mind at all. I can tell you that 16.7 grains of h110 is win296 with a magnum primer is a super fast and accurate load out of all my 357 magnums. The coonan and the rifle are very accurate with this load.

Re: .357 magnum loads
10.4 grains of win 571/ hs7 works great as well. Very accurate for a mild magnum load and will cycle the slide on the coonan. I'm hoping to be able to chrony some loads on sat. I will post more as I go.
