    I have Allstate and have never been asked. I don't even know how much the cover for firearms. I just bought the additional NRA insurance a couple weeks ago.

    If you are going to switch it is an opportunity to screw with them. Send them random list of things you own.

    I would suggest recording your conversation with them and if it gets to ridiculous post it online

I will be paying and extra $14/year for $5000 total firearm coverage. they never asked for any information about types, models, serial numbers, storage, or anything else.

Most Homeowner policies start at $500 deductible nowadays but if you increase that to $1000 you can reduce your premium.

    Sorry to steal the Op's thread. But answers to my question may benefit the OP.

    My firearms collection has now exceeded $2,500. So I was considering getting more coverage for them via my State Farm Home Owners insurance.
    My insurance agent said that can be done via a "Personal Articles coverage" endorsement to my insurance policy.
    And they asked for a list; name, model, no serial numbers; of the firearms to get an approximate value.
    I gave them (my agent) a list with my estimated values. Have not yet decided to get the additional coverage.

    So everyone who has State Farm Home Owners insurance and got additional firearms coverage above their standard $2,500.
    • What information about your firearms did they request from you ?
    • Was their estimated value of your firearms accurate ?
      • If not; how did you determine the value of each firearm ?

    Thanks;

    That makes two of us. My father was LCDR in the Navy during Korea and most of my siblings use them. I had two problems with them and use them for a little but just where it benefits me.

    I'll second Erie. They have always been great to deal with and quick to settle claims. We've never had a theft claim but over many years a few storm damage ones. We have our home and auto there and you get a discount for both. And, I also get the 5K included in the standard policy.

    Sounds suspicious. I got homeowner's with Erie Insurance recently and they asked nothing of the sort. And that was even after I inquired about a rider for guns [well they did mention I'd need an appraisal is all, which makes sense].

    I'd probably check them out, and in the next couple weeks too, in my case, because we're just about to by a house. Plus, I have my vehicle loan through State Farm and theyve been pretty good with everything. I like how they do business.
