Re: Question......Remington 700 trigger assembly with turn screw
I'm not telling you what that screw is. You have a bad and destructive track record.
Do not turn that screw. Put the trigger assembly back on the gun and be happy.Crusader's local #556 South Central Asia chapter

Re: Question......Remington 700 trigger assembly with turn screw
Well, at least you have a sense of humor.
It looks like the trigger that came (maybe still does) with the Remington 40X rifle.
It is the "trigger adjusting screw".
Turning the screw changes the pull weight by a pound or 2.
For safety, the screw should be adjusted by someone that knows what they are doing.
It works in conjunction with the other screws and if someone has been in there messing with them it is very possible for the rifle to discharge on closing.
After adjusting all screws, they need to be fixed in place to prevent movement.
On unmolested guns, the other screws will have little plugs of sealant smeared over the holes so the factory can tell if you voided the warrantee by turning them.
I was involved with an investigation into a negligent shooting some years ago- the screws had been improperly adjusted by a USMC "armorer" gone gunsmith.
Remington sent down 2 engineers and lots of high tech photo equipment. They produced a loose leaf note book of around 75 pages detailing just how much the trigger was F'd with by the "gunsmith". Guess how the civil verdict turned out-Crusader's local #556 South Central Asia chapter

Thank you. I knew the forum would produce the answer.

Re: Question......Remington 700 trigger assembly with turn screw
I don't see any other screws anywhere near that screw to work in conjuction with that screw. And if it is that dangerous, I can't see any company marketing it as shown to begin with. But that's just me. Show me a label "no consumer repairable parts inside" and I will definitely need to find out why and how it is/is not true.

Actually, I have. Sewed up my left thumb a few years back. Worked out fine. (Big help that I am right handed)...
