All I can add is that the bolt has to be rotated in the lugs for the carrier to be that far forward in those video's.
There is a bit of "play" between the bolt and carrier. Thing is even if the bolt is all the way home the carrier being back far enough can prevent the hammer from getting a good hit on the firing pin.

I agree. I'm just splitting hairs (going back to my original post) as to what is actually bouncing, the BC or the bolt.

    For what its worth.
I checked for the movement of the bolt carrier before it starts to rotate the bolt in the lugs. The BC will move 1/8" rear wards before the bolt starts to turn in the lugs. It takes approximately 1/4" of rearward travel of the BC to completely free the bolt from the lugs.

This sounds like it, I'm new to "bump fire" in general, there are light indents on the primer when it stops. I'll have to work on my technique, I may be "limpwristing". but I don't think I am ? I shoot Glocks with no problem... But this is different - Thank you all for the replies !

Most likely not limp twisting, you may need a heavier buffer. What length barrel, what weight buffer, and do you have a fa bolt carrier?

8 and 1/2 inch barrel, FA bolt, I think this one has a standard weight buffer and regular buffer spring... Should I go heavier buffer (tungsten) and heavier spring? Like I said, it shoots fine regularly, cycles perfectly, and ejects in a relatively small pile when shooting normally... I am not willing to to give that up for some bump-fire fun... If this is the only time it mis-fires, I am perfectly comfortable with it "as is" ...

If its in the harmonics, change the weight. If you have a lug hang a bayonet on it. Tape some lead on the front or back. It's quick and cheap.

Interesting... I'll have play with / practice on my next payday... Not cheap just waste ammo (lots of fun though) I just put a blast deflector on it (thordsens) so play funds may take 2 weeks to recoup... I may try a weight on the front.

I run a h3 buffer and mine will run all day. you will out run the bolt on occasion thats why fa has extra parts in the fcg
