Re: GREASE OR GUN OIL ?
Weapon Shield oil on the gun; SuperLube Synthetic Grease on the rails and barrel just aft of the muzzle and back where she locks into the slide.
Because SuperLube is synthetic and not petroleum based, it is recommended for applications where rubber or plastics may come into contact with the grease. I use it to lube the metal pins shrouded by rubber boots on brake calipers so that the rubber will not deteriorate. I feel more comfortable using it on gun rails on polymer pistols, but I also use it on my Sigs, too.
I swear by the stuff.

Re: GREASE OR GUN OIL ?
Brake grease like Permatex 24125 is what I use in brake hardware and the back of the pads.
This is "sticky" synthetic grease that does not melt.
It's designed to stay put.
I might have to try some on one of my semiauto rails.
