Spouses
Pardon my ignorance, but how does ownership work with spouses...? If paperwork was filled out to purchase a handgun from a dealer, can that handgun be freely transferred to a spouse? What about in case of divorce? Is this the right place to ask?
Thanks!

Re: Spouses
Question and Answer would be a better forum. Handguns may be transferred between spouses without going through a dealer. Divorce means that you are no longer spouses in the eyes of the law, so you can't transfer guns to your ex.
§6111. Sale or transfer of firearms.
...
Duty of other persons.-Any person who is not a licensed importer, manufacturer or dealer and who desires to sell or transfer a firearm to another unlicensed person shall do so only upon the place of business of a licensed importer, manufacturer, dealer or county sher iff's office, the latter of whom shall follow the procedure set forth in this section as if he were the seller of the firearm. The provisions of this section shall not apply to transfers between spouses or to transfers between a parent and child or to transfers between grandparent and grandchild.

Pretty sure Phillbert's got it right on the money here. Unless you're just seperated, but if the divorce is finalized then no. You are no longer spouses (obviously) and the transfer must include an FFL.

Re: Spouses
Does anybody think it is prudent to give your ex a firearm? I certainly don't.

Re: Spouses
Sorry for the hijack but I think this is kinda close. Would I be correct in saying that the statute also covers sibling transfers? (as long as both parties can legally own a firearm)
