Llama 1911 - Parts interchangability
Saw a Llama 1911 at my LGS this week for less than $300. If it had ever been fired it didn't look like it to me so I bought it.
The Good:
1. Bluing looks fantastic
2. Grips are in perfect shape
3. Ran 200 rounds through it today with zero issues (230 gr ball)
The Bad:
1. The trigger
The trigger is horrendous. According to my trigger gauge it's coming in at 9+ pounds. I'd like to get a drop-in trigger kit but I'm not sure if the Llama 1911 has standard 1911 parts. It doesn't have "Max-?" on it anywhere just "LLAMA CAL 45"
Will standard 1911 hammer, sear, etc. parts fit this gun?

That's not a Llama, that's an Alpaca knock off.

Re: Llama 1911 - Parts interchangability
I think that one is a pretty exact 1911 clone.
The Spaniards liked to tweak things so I'm not 100% sure.
Theres's gotta be a Llama forum out there without farm animals.

I own one and so far its sights and grips that dont interchange. Fire control group was normal 1911.
There is a 1911 forum out there with a full list of partz that dont interchange.www.Steelvalleycasting.com is your new home for coated bullets and custom ammo.

Llama's are tricky, some parts interchangeable, some not so much. I don't buy many from the year yours is so not 100% sure. I like the older ones

I'd take cruzans' advice above. ...seeing how that he owns all the other Llama guns on Earth.

Re: Llama 1911 - Parts interchangability
Even the parts that do interchange on them will require lots of hand fitting to get them to work. You might consider finding a decent Smith and seeing what he can do with the trigger. I have a few llamas and they are generally pretty reliable, but parts are becoming unobtanium for them. The trigger on my max 100 is similarly bad, but it's more of a range toy, so I just live with it.
