Default Re: What permit can I carry with?

I was in his office before and spoke to the security guard who said the biggest problem is being able to get past his secretary. I figured how hard could that be? The security guard was correct. She wouldn't let me speak to him at all without an appointment and she said he still wouldn't issue unless I had a permit from my own state. I explained that I spend a fair share of time up there (not so much anymore) and that I owned a camp and had property. She said unless it was my full time residence they would not issue. I'm sure it is the same Sheriff but it might be worth another try. I spoke to some of my friends that own a gun shop not to far away and they said several years ago it would of been pretty easy but at that time PA had the other reciprocity agreements in place so it wasn't really a concern.

State law requires you to have your home state license to be eligible if your home state does in fact issue licenses. The only state that doesn't is Vermont, so VT residents are exempt.

A new sheriff does not change the requirement in law.

I'm curious about Maine. They don't have licenses anymore I thought, constitutional carry. Does that invalidate existing Maine licenses including the OP's ? Or do they still issue them and Pennsylvania doesn't recognize due to the fact that the OP is not a Maine resident ?

I know Maine did away with the carry permit but they will still issue a permit for both resident and non resident as they still have reciprocity with some states.

So why does PA no longer recognize Maine ? Not being argumentative, just curious as travel there frequently.

Former AG Kane dropped Maine when Maine enacted Constitutional Carry. ...as for her logic for doing so, who knows.

She used the only logic she needed:

    She could, so she did.

Also for Maine, even though it is constitutional carry there are still a few places that require a permit to carry there, such as state parks off the top of my head. Theres one or two other places where you still need the state's permit but I forget what they are, which is why they still issue permits.

Because Bloomburg told her to. He wanted to get something in return for his money.
