Re: Definition of Antique Firearm to Change
Now and then I read where a manufacturer does some crazy stuff with production that skews linear progression of numbers.
Since errors with guns are always criminal matters, the onus in prosecution would normally be on the state or U.S. government to prove the crime, with the accused having no obligation to prove innocence. That doesn't seem the case with gun prosecutions.
As a practical matter, a defense would necessitate defendant proving everything possible and reasonable was done to ascertain a gun was an antique under the law.
The law as before or as proposed leaves some guns in an uncertain category and therefor default to FFL.
Gun laws ostensibly came to be for the protection of the people by stopping crimes committed with guns. Unintelligent applications of frivolous definitions and models serves no purpose in advancing public safety.
