Thumbs up What's the MOST RELIABLE handgun you've owned

Well we have a thread on the most UNRELIABLE, looking on the positive side of things, what's the most RELIABLE handgun you've had/have.

I'd have to say the most reliable handgun I've had is my Springfield Loaded Model 1911A1, with the Para P14-45 I had as a close second.

About 5 years ago I started testing every combination of ammo in each handgun. In the 9mm class, I found one brand that functioned perfectly in all 9mms, including a P08 "Luger". Two points that become clear: ammunition plays a significant role in reliability. And, some handguns are more tolerant of varying ammunition quality than others.

There were only three type tested for 9mm since that's all I had at the time. This test could be expanded ad nauseum for as many guns and ammo types as you have the time and resources to add.

Some Luger enthusiasts picked up on this approach (maybe the file, too) and ran with it, not sure how far it's gone.

Attached are the test results in excel format and compressed. Feel free to modify and use for your own purposes.

    Enjoy.

    Glock 17,19,34,26,21,30,20

The only Glock I ever owned that gave me any problem was my G32. Trigger would fail to reset from time to time.

The rest have been drop dead reliable.

I have never had an issue of any kind with my XD .45 except for user error.

    my HK USP 45 fullsize.
I put over 6k rds thru it before I sold it, never a single FTF, FTE, or malfunction of ANY kind at all.

2nd place was my S&W 4506, that also gobbled up and shot anything I put in it, without error.

Beretta 92FS. Have owned it for 16 years and until the locking block broke, the gun has never failed to go bang when I pulled the trigger. No jams, miss feeds, etc.

Sig P220. Had some issues with it last year, but I replaced the extractor and everything is fine once again.

S&W 6906. Doesn't get fired as much as the other two, but never had any issues with it either.
