I remember when I was an undergraduate student at Temple University I took a marksmanship course at the Armory Building which was the university HQ for ROTC. My instructor was a Green Beret and Ranger. I enjoyed shooting so much. I used to bring my .357 revolver to Temple and the range with the permission of the instructor. I know now what I did could have gotten me in a lot of trouble. This was in the 1970s. The Armory is gone and probably the shooting program. I must say it was one of the highlights of my education. I was not 21 and had no LTCF. Just a desire to learn marksmanship with rifle and my handgun.

These are exceptions to the law that you are listing. If you're too lazy to get your LTCF you're too lazy to fight an arrest in court.

It's a good question though. Any law type people here have a definition of 'place of assembly'.
Let's not forget there are still species of tropical penguins living in the Galapagos.

Unless people edited their posts, I personally did not see any thing real offensive. Maybe a little direct but not personal either.

This leads me also to the conclusion that he did not like the answer more than how it was delivered. Most of us are not lawyers so couching the answer in those terms are fine, IMHO.

I always advise people to get LTCF even if they don't plan on carrying. Carrying concealed and in a vehicle is one advantage. No limits to where you carry is another. There are many more such as during declared emergencies, (happens a lot in winter snow storms so the state can get access to Federal clean-up funds) one cannot carry a long gun or hand gun off of one's property unless actively engaged in defense of oneself/others OR if you have a LTCF. Note this includes long guns, so declared emergency and no LTCF means no carry or defense at all in public! Just when you would really need to.

    IANAL.
