Browning vs ?
I presently have a Browning Buck Mark camper pistol. I went to range yesterday and finally had to face the fact that it's too heavy for my aging hands to keep it steady. Can you fellows suggest a lighter weight pistol to replace it with. It can be any brand as long as it's reasonably reliable. Looking forward to hearing your suggestions, all welcome. Joe

Re: Browning vs ?
A Ruger SR22 would probably work. It is polymer, small, and I have heard good things about them.

Re: Browning vs ?
If you are open to a revolver the Smith & Wesson 317 is very light weight. They are also quite expensive.

I'm not sure a lighter pistol would help you. Perhaps a visit to the website http://www.bullseyepistol.com/ and a review of the USAMU Pistol Marksmanship Guide might help as much. Especially the chapter on "minimum arc of movement". See one of the things that you must accept from the beginning is that NO ONE can keep a pistol "steady". Just your heart beat and the normal muscular twitches will keep the pistol in motion. I'll soon be 71 y.o. (and for the wise guys, yes I'd have taken better care of myself if I'd known I was going to live this long!) and I have a similar problem. The arthritis in my hands is making me sensitive to felt recoil. So I'm switching to lighter bullets and calibers.

I have a Browning 1911 .22 pistol and it is great. It is a downsized version of a 1911 and functions and field strips the same way. Very light and easy to shoot.

Re: Browning vs ?
The ruger lcrx is a very lightweight 22 revolver, and the Phoenix arms range kit is an excellent lightweight 22 they are very reliable. I say the range kit because it includes the longer barrel. The market these days is full of reliable light weight 22's. good luck.

Re: Browning vs ?
Did you check out a Buckmark Lite? They're about a half pound lighter than a regular BM.

Re: Browning vs ?
If you decide that lighter is better. The Ruger 22/45 Mark IV Lite (post recall model) is a good one. I like shooting mine. Make sure it's a Mark IV, anything earlier is a PITA to clean.
However, lighter may be the path to a steady hold.
