Recently, i learned of the spring/plunger on the Ruger mark iv 22/45. Why does this exist? Yes, it shoots the magazines out, but it also makes them a pain to seat. I removed it on mine, and guess what? The magazines still drop free. This set of parts serves no purpose.

The Ruger mark iii has a bunch of parts like this too. My hunter model has/had a loaded chamber indicator. I suppose a great idea in theory. But once it got the least bit dirty, it would cause the gun to jam constantly. The only real solution is to remove this part which thankfully is very easy to do.

They also have some sort of safety lockout that comes with a special key. It is like they took a page out of the s&w playbook. Only, if you've ever seen one of these things used, the key is long gone. Probably much the same with s&w. So why inside this at all?

I guess Ruger at least learned because both of these features are gone from the mark iv.
