Default A call out to Hodgie

I know you are a big sks fan (or was it the mosin) .
I have a friend that just picked up a sks that was factory built to accept ak mags.
Is there such a thing? The reason I ask, he doenst know much about it,
and his googlefoo sucks. (as does mine).
It has a threaded barrel. I think it was modded, but he says it was a special run of sks's.
Any info would be much appreciated.

Norinco made the SKS-M (modified) that uses AK47 magazines. Also, there is information on how to convert an SKS to accept AK mags.
    P.S.- I am not Hodgie.

I was under the impression that the Norinco "D" models did this?
I have never heard of an "M" variant.

*update* ok looks like the D variant was pre ban and M variant was post AWB ban.

I have a buddy who has one of these.. and it's exactly as described.

The pre-ban ones that are set up like a standard SKS with bayonet are D's. There are two post ban versions, the D and the M, the D has a thumbhole stock, the M has a monte carlo stock. None of them would have come with threaded muzzles from the factory.

The butthole stocks can be swapped out to a regular stock.

The squareish grip of the butthole stocks always sucked IMO.
