Because I apparently haven't spent enough money on guns this year, I went ahead and bought one of these sonic cleaners. Hey, if it saves me time and makes the guns super clean to satisfy my OCD, it'll be worth the coin.

I bought a gallon of the Hornady solution, which is very expensive, although I believe it should last through many cleanings. That said, I am hoping for an alternative solution that may be easier on the wallet and readily available at the local Lowe's or Home Depot. Any ideas? This is for cleaning gun parts (barrels, slides, BCG's), not brass.

Speaking of parts, is it safe to toss the entire gun (polymer frame and all) into this thing?

Thanks!!
