Where can I shoot a rifle or pistol in PA without going to a gun range
Does anyone know the law in Delaware County PA or Chester County PA. I would simply like to go out into the woods and practice shooting my SU22e and my 9mm. I normally go to Target Master but for the SU22e the longest target is only 25 yds. I am afraid to go into any woods because I don't know the law and don't know how to find out where I can or cannot shoot. I understand that some State Parks have ranges. Is this true?
Any help much appreciated.
Thanks

For State game land ranges, you need a range badge, or a hunting license. There are a few state game land ranges around. I think the closest one to there would be French Creek.
Shooting(not hunting) on state land where the is no designated range is illegal, I'm pretty sure. If I'm wrong, I'm sure someone will correct me.
Shooting on private land, you better have the owners permission.
You can join a gun club. Probably your best bet. Most of them have at least 100 yards. Some have trap, pistol, indoor, and other benefits. Usually can get a year membership for less than $100.

In PA you have few choices as McSull said. Join a club, pay as you go at (or join) an indoor range, find a PGC range, or buy your own property. Or find a friend with property.
Here's a link to the PGC ranges and info: http://www.pgc.pa.gov/HuntTrap/State...s/default.aspx

You would need landowner permission first. Then you would need to check the local ordinances as most townships and boroughs have laws against discharge of weapons. Finally you would need a safe backstop. I doubt you could find a place in Delaware County where you could shoot. Chester County could have possibilities. Just join a club. Delaware County Field and Stream has everything and is the closest.

Would love to plink away somewhere in DELCO like Hickok45 but that's virtually impossible around these parts.

Isn't there an outdoor range open to the public up in Bucks county? I wanna say Wicks but that isn't it.
