Pete's produce farm, West Chester pa
Just curious what everybody thinks about lawful possession at Pete's produce farm. I can't tell if it's part of the grounds of Westtown school or not. It's officially called "Pete's Produce Farm at Westtown School". Looking forward to hearing what everybody thinks.

Westtown School is a Quaker, coeducational, college preparatory day and boarding school for students in pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade, located in eastern Pennsylvania.
Looking at the map: https://www.google.com/maps/place/We...!4d-75.5383062
You could approach the produce stand from a couple of different directions and never even know there was a school nearby. I'd say that even if the land is owned by the you'd have a fairly good defense in court that you would have no way of knowing it was on school grounds.Rules are written in the stone,
Break the rules and you get no bones,
all you get is ridicule, laughter,
and a trip to the house of pain.

Re: Pete's produce farm, West Chester pa
I think an argument can be made that, regardless of whether it is on school owned land or not, that is not a school in practice. Instead it is a commercial establishment that does not engage in any educational efforts and no teachers or students are on the market space for educational purposes.
In Commonwealth of PA v. Goslin the Court found that "other lawful purposes" did not allow a person to carry a gun on school grounds. That decision was vacated on appeal and a new trial is being scheduled. As of now "other lawful purposes" is not a reliable defense for carrying on schools grounds. You can get a concise report on the case here.Last edited by allenr; August 27th, 2017 at 11:06 AM.

State:http://www.legis.state.pa.us/cfdocs/...n=12&subsctn=0
And what I is the relevant U.S. code.
(2)(A) It shall be unlawful for any individual knowingly to possess a firearm that has moved in or that otherwise affects interstate or foreign commerce at a place that the individual knows, or has reasonable cause to believe, is a school zone.
(B) Subparagraph (A) does not apply to the possession of a firearm-
(i) on private property not part of school grounds;
(ii) if the individual possessing the firearm is licensed to do so by the State in which the school zone is located or a political subdivision of the State, and the law of the State or political subdivision requires that, before an individual obtains such a license, the law enforcement authorities of the State or political subdivision verify that the individual is qualified under law to receive the license;
(iii) that is-
(I) not loaded; and
(II) in a locked container, or a locked firearms rack that is on a motor vehicle;
(iv) by an individual for use in a program approved by a school in the school zone;
(v) by an individual in accordance with a contract entered into between a school in the school zone and the individual or an employer of the individual;
(vi) by a law enforcement officer acting in his or her official capacity; or
(vii) that is unloaded and is possessed by an individual while traversing school premises for the purpose of gaining access to public or private lands open to hunting, if the entry on school premises is authorized by school authorities.Some people just plain suck.
If you're gonna be dumb ya gotta be tough.
