    Default gotta love S&W

i had to send my beloved Sigma 9VE back to them, because it started having issues with jamming and dropping mags while firing. when i took it to my FFL, that's all i told them. i never bothered to ask about the sights; i dinged the rear sight a few months ago, but i don't really use them, so i didn't care too much. they boxed it up, and sent it on it's merry.

today, exactly 14 days later, i got it back. they fixed all i asked for, and more. in addition to a new mag catch/release, they replaced: the recoil spring, the trigger spring, the slide release, and the slide. that's right, the whole slide. i figure, the sights were fixed sights, so it must have been easier to give me a whole new slide than replace the sights alone. and they threw in an extra mag, to boot. basically, aside from the frame and barrel, i got a whole new gun. for $20, to cover the shipping. S&W took care of me; they'll be hearing about it come monday.

now, if i could just find a damned range to shoot my "new" gun...

Excellent. Hopefully that has solved the problems you had with the gun. I have always felt good buying a S&W handgun, knowing full well they will stand behind their products. They have the best CS in the firearms industry as far as I'm concerned, which is important to me when I look to buy a gun. Sig Sauer has always been very good to me as well. Now go burn up some lead and have some fun!

    That's damn good service.
    I like to hear that.
Hopefully you have no more problems, but at least you know that if you do, you are going to be taken care of.
I guess that's why they have been around for so long.....they stand behind their product.

It's certainly rare to hear about a company that went above and beyond what was necessary. Excellent!!! I may have to buy an M&P next to support them.

    Default I DO love S&W!!!

Last year, I took my S&W 686 to my gunsmith to fix a frame-mounted firing pin issue. On the newer models, the hammer does not have the primer striking pin on it, rather the hammer is flat and contacts the firing pin and it strikes the primer, then is recoiled back with a spring.(I believe) . Anywho, it was only recessing back 50% of the time. After 6 months at my gunsmith, he had taken it apart and it actually got worse with the cam/yaw and whatforth, and now it didn't cycle! Finally fed up, I instructed the gunsmith to send in to S&W and I figured I'd bite the bullet and pay whatever to fix what needed fixing.
Two weeks later, it came back. Firing pin issue fixed, cam/yaw problem fixed, the DA trigger seemed smoother and the SA trigger was perfect. The cost=$0!! I feel I got the whole gun overhauled for the price of buying a quality used gun the year before, which was $370! Anyone priced new 686's lately? You're talking around $700 new, if you're lucky.
I read quite a bit on these boards ppl praising the Ruger. It is, afterall, a solid performing weapon at a lower price, generally, then S&W. But there is something about S&W's I've always loved, and it prolly stems back to going shooting with my Dad as a youth. He had one and I thought it was awesome.
    Because, well, they are.
