Re: Photobucket Demands $400 Ransom to Release Photos
Everyone is wondering why they did this with no warning......I think I figured out why. FACEBOOK IS DYING! And after what they did no one will be sorry to see them go. Not sure if I would want to pay a year in advance either.
I looked up facebooks web traffic. I was curious if they were being bombarded with delete requests but I found something more interesting. Look at this link and look at the number of visits (select 365 day view). From June 2014 to June 2015 Photobucket was getting 2 million visits per day. Traffic dropped to 1.25 million visits by June 2016 then started a freefall. For the last 3 weeks they were getting only 200,000 visits per day.
Any guess what happened around June 6? Their traffic dropped by half in a week!

Re: Photobucket Demands $400 Ransom to Release Photos
Here too, but I already pay for extra space, something like $29 a year. Maybe that's why I haven't experienced the problem EM has, or maybe because I am not a business.
That said I started downloading the albums/photos I don't already have on my PC in case when my current subscription expires they hold me up too.

Re: Photobucket Demands $400 Ransom to Release Photos
hmm. well, never liked photobucket, just started using when they were the game in town. no issue logging in or anything, except the page is all text. that might be my adblocking tendancies. maybe i blocked their CSS.
they are running -slowwww- though
will be deleting them, everything is backed up on a network drive as well as two seperate HDD and the wedding photos are printed and on flash as well.
Edit: holy crap, disabled adblock and you can't even use their site. it's nothing but. There is no way to make it out alive...

Re: Photobucket Demands $400 Ransom to Release Photos
PhotoFuckit has been dying for years. I have 3 accounts too and am maxed out at 101%. My account is locked and I can only get the popup to upgrade and pay. Because the site is so slow and doesn't load most of the time, I managed to delete one album. I now have access to that account. There are a few albums I cannot find on my external hard drives so i am downloading those. I will be deleting all my accounts on PB.
I have spent a while consolidating my hard drives and i have a metric shit ton of photos i've taken over the years.

Re: Photobucket Demands $400 Ransom to Release Photos
thats sexy.
i forsee large swaths of forums will be showing the "this photo has been moved" type square images. massive landscapes just barren, filled only with the corpses of what was once photos.
years from now, people will wander past them and lol "yep another from when photobucket failed"There is no way to make it out alive...

Re: Photobucket Demands $400 Ransom to Release Photos
I was able to log in via my iPhone and save all 434 pics I had on it. Quality of pics might not be as good as originals. But, I know you said you had old pics of your dogs you wanted. Try and log in via smartphone. See if that works.
