Default Edible and Medicinal Plant Kayak Trip - Upper Delaware River - August 5, 2017

Join Sandcut Outdoors and Northeast Wilderness Experience on Saturday, August 5, 2017 for a full day of kayaking and exploring the beautiful Upper Delaware River. This one-of-a-kind trip will focus on the edible and medicinal plants along the shoreline, gravel bars and islands of this Scenic and Recreational River. There will be many opportunities to see a variety of wildlife. If we are lucky, we may see beaver, turtles, black bear, American shad, river lamprey, bald eagles and possibly even a golden eagle. We will explore the steep-sloped river valley between Equinunk, PA and float approximately 8 miles almost to Hankins, NY. The shuttle will leave the rally point promptly at 9 am and we will arrive back at the rally point around 3 pm, depending on weather and current speed. Cost for the trip will be $65/person and will include guide service for both the natural history program and the kayak trip, equipment rental (including kayaks, paddles and PFDs), as well as shuttle service to the launch point. Space is limited to 20 participants, ages 12 years old and older. Pre-registration is required not later than noon on Wednesday, August 2. Spots on this trip will fill up quickly, so register early. Register by emailing your name and number participating to SandcutOutdoorsLLC@gmail.com . All participants will be required to wear a Personal Floatation Device (PFD) throughout the trip. And, sorry, but use of personal kayaks cannot be accommodated on this trip. Directions to the rally point will be provided upon registration.

Gravel bars? They don't sound very edible.

Smoke that stuff and you'll be begging your float party to find you a Frito tree.

OK, we are now about two weeks from closing registration for this program and the class is halfway full. We only have 10 of 20 seats left available. We are, however, showing 93 people as "going" or " interested" on Facebook. If you do seriously plan to come on this trip, please send me an email to SandcutOutdoorsLLC@gmail.com to hold your spot before they run out. The weather in that area is currently gorgeous in the low/mid 80s and the USGS stream guage at our launch point shows that the water came up almost 18" a few days ago. Conditions couldn't be better, so register soon. I'm really excited about this trip!

That is a beautiful area. A friend had a drift boat back in the day and we fly fished that stretch. Good times!
