Default i SHOULD be in a GREAT mood... but im not...

and it doesnt bother me that im not either...

i found out two things today that would make the "average" joe happy...

a person i HIGHLY dislike is in a bind. not the type of bind that will hurt anyone or anything like that, but in a bind. this would normaly make me VERY happy, but it didnt phase me one bit today... odd.

secondly, i am getting promoted in the next two months. from Sergeant (E-5) to Staff Sergeant (E-6.) i think this is why i am kind of down. see, as a recruiter a promotion means a pay raise, and that is it. nothing more, nothing less.... well, maybe new business cards...

BUT, when i go back to the fleet in a few months(5 to 11 months till i leave PA, and THAT makes me VERY happy(yes, i friggen HATE pa)) i will not be working on planes anymore. ill be going back to a desk job. i dont get to go where i want AND be ina deploying unit... that is the part that saddens me the most. i am going to attempt a job change to fix those problems, but i doubt ill get it...

    hm.. time will tell...

    thanks for listening...

Congrats? on the pay grade. I'm curious, why do you hate PA? The only thing I wish PA had is beach front, which a long time ago it did, Delaware used to be part of PA, other than that PA is pretty cool concerning things that are important to me, motorcycles and guns.

Congrats on the E-6, but we'll be sorry to see you go. We'll have to be sure to get in a few more shoots before you ship out. I assume you have no idea where your orders will be to?

    Keep us posted.

I'm sure some will read that and take insult. I'm sorry to hear that. I don't know about anyone else, but I feel the way about our great state of Pennsylvania they way I imagine Texans feel about Texas. Just wondering what about Pa doesn't agree with you?

Hope those things work out for ya.

OK, time to shake off the blues and get into action. You're a marine, man. U.S. Marines don't take it, they dish it out. You don't want the desk job? Make sure before they issue you your pocket protector you've done everything you could to get what you really want. You're a Staff Sargeant, dammit. You didn't get there by sitting on your butt and letting people have their way with you. You have leadership skills, assertiveness, personality. Time to put those to the test and keep your career going in the direction you want it. Snap out it boy, you got plenty of time to put the wheels in motion, but the longer you wait, the harder it will be to get your message to the right person in time.
You are a straight white man. You don't get to be the victim, sweetie.

I grew up in PA, lived in CA, then CT, RI, NY. While in New England I met my wife and we couldn't wait to get out of New England. We made the move to Texas. I never saw so many folks with more pride in their state but personally, I didn't see it. The heat was rediculous at times and even living in what was considered "the hill country" of Austin, it was still flat compared to PA and we had no seasons.

We moved back to PA and I found a new appreciation for this state, the seasons, the wildlife, the people, and the geography. It seems that there is no one perfect place but for me, the weakest part of PA is the politics and we can fight that while focusing on enjoying the other parts.

    Congratulations on the promotion.

I lived most of my life in PA and I like it here I even up to a point like Philly!

I can understand the change of scenery . It can be good. you will adjust to the change.
