Default A couple of questions from someone traveling through Penn

Hi, I will be traveling through Pennsylvania next month on my way from Mich to Maine. I have a CPL from Michigan. I know I am good to carry concealed in your state and in Ohio. I wanted to pick your brains regarding where to stay in PA for the night and about how to travel through your gun unfriendly neighboring states.

My first question is: I plan on stopping near Scranton. I am flexible on where I stop. Could be 50 miles before, or 50 miles after. I am looking for a few city names where you would recommend I stay for the night. Preferably a city I am least likely to get stabbed in, and one where my truck might make it through the night with all the glass intact. If it happened to be a fun/cool city with a nice restaurant selection, all the better. I will be traveling 80, 81, and 84.

Please don't be insulted by the previous question. Here in Michigan we have beautiful areas to stop in...and some areas to avoid. If you aren't from MI, you wouldn't know which was which until it was too late.

My next question is in regards to traveling through Conn, New York State, and Mass. I plan to follow all federal laws regarding safe passage with a handgun.

Since you guys are so close to those states, have you heard of any areas/cities/counties to avoid in terms of them not giving a crap about the safe passage laws? I am sort of looking for true stories here, not 5th hand info that was overheard from a guy at the gun store. I have heard of situations in New York State where they would arrest you, then a few weeks later you would be found innocent at your trial and free to go. Of course this is after you are out thousands in lawyer fees and your vacation is ruined. However those stories seem to be from several years ago.

Any advice or suggestions for me are appreciated. Should you need the same advice from me, head over to Michigan Gun Owners Forum.

    Cheers.

    Fly.

Seriously, it's probably cheaper than gas and hotel stays.

One hotel stay. 6 days camping.

Between my wife and kids, I am thinking driving will be far cheaper.

Stories about New York are still current and happening. You take a risk in that state and Mass.
As long as you don't get into an accident or get stopped you should be ok.. definitely would not spend the night in either state.

Places to stay in Eastern PA headed North along I-81
first choice area Dickson City - (Home2 suites / Residence Inn / Holiday Inn Express / Days Inn) Low crime area, large mall and shit ton of places to eat!!
Mohegan Sun - Wilkes-Barre.. largish casino with hotel and that part of town is good
Most any near Montage Mountain (Courtyard / Springhill Suites / Towne Place Suites ) Nice low crime area and places to eat there

Be good, you will be on the Southern Edge of my stompin grounds.
If you cross into NY on I-81 from the NY border until well away from Binghamton you will pass through a multitude of jurisdictions all happily waiting to catch you speeding.

If you are camping there is a campground just this side of NY. http://kittatinny.com/camping/river-beach-campground/
There are good restaurants/diners in the area. FWIW.

    http://www.villagedinermilfordpa.com/menu is good for breakfast.

Thanks for the reply. We will not be camping that night in PA. It is a concession I had to make with the family. Thanks again though.

Did someone actually tally all those bananas?
