Re: Should I keep the .45 or go with a Beretta?
What I think you should do, is run a couple hundred more rounds through it, and let the gun prove its reliability to you. Being that it is more of a defensive sidearm, it probably won't see a ton of action afterwards. I doubt it will simply just "conk out" one day. Especially if you only shoot it periodically while using the other .45s you listed as your higher count range toys.

I don't know about you, but I'm cutting my trigger guard off of what ever I carry. I tried it on someone elses gun and it does make u faster to the trigger. If you want safety i suppose you could buy a jock strap and a bra.

Re: Should I keep the .45 or go with a Beretta?
I don't understand the question, the colt's been reliable and you shoot it well keep the colt. If you want something that is fool proof such a thing doesn't exist but a all steel double action 357 such as sp101 or sw model 60; or a gen 1 or 2 glock 17; come close. I don't think the answer is a miniature version of a 50 year old beretta design is the answer. If you want a da/sa try a cz or a sig.

Get the Ed Brown extractor for the Colt and try it for 200+ rounds, then decide.

Re: Should I keep the .45 or go with a Beretta?
I would also suggest looking at other guns if you want to replace your colt. A lot of companies make similar sized guns in various calibers including 9mm .40 45 and .380 calibers that have good reliability.
The problem with purchasing the Beretta Cheetah is that currently they are not that popular therefore it may negatively affect resale value. In other words should you decide to sell it in might be up for sale for a while unless Tarzan swung into a gun store and wanted to buy a gun.

Re: Should I keep the .45 or go with a Beretta?
I've never heard of a Cheetah.
But Berettas never really did anything for me, so I probably had no reason to notice that model.
I usually carry a Colt Pony, but if I had a compact 1911, I sure as shit wouldn't carry .380 instead.I called to check my ZIP CODE!....DY-NO-MITE!!!

All pistol calibers are marginal. Keep the 45 and use the money saved on the purchase of a rifle. Then use the 45 to buy time to get to the rifle.

Cheetahs are nice guns, but expensive. Here are some LEO turn ins for sale if you're looking for something cheaper-
