Re: Review- Rock Island 1911A1 Tac 2011 10mm
Yeah, I've got to wrap my head around how high the pressure is as opposed to a .45. I run different recoil springs in my gold cup for target or standard loads. Looks like that's not going to improve stuff much with 10mm though. I have no experience with the firing pin stop they're discussing in that thread, but the increased main spring makes sense to me if you're going to run hot reloads the majority of the time. Personally I'd probably stick to mostly the lighter stuff and only run limited hotter stuff anyways to maintain experience with them. The hot stuff would be limited to carry ammo anyways in my case, as I plan on making it my "woods" gun anyways. Mostly for hiking/fishing/hunting backup.

Re: Review- Rock Island 1911A1 Tac 2011 10mm
I can tell you that my 10mm Kimber ejects brass into orbit. On a factory spring with a 180 grain bullet at 1250fps (my standard target load) brass will eject at 3-4 o'clock about 20 feet away from me. Yes 20 feet.
Come watch me shoot IDPA. My brass ejects out of the first stage and usually lands on the road. On the 4th stage if angled correctly I can put brass on top the 15' concrete divider wall between bays.Last edited by DucatiRon; June 23rd, 2017 at 12:15 AM.

The problem with increased recoil springs is that they can be a bit harder on the gun going back into battery. The flat firing pin stop helps bleed off slide speed during the ejection stroke (adding fuel to the fire), without changing the slide speed going back into battery. You can also get some of this effect from running a heavier mainspring, but that can sometimes increase trigger pull.

Re: Review- Rock Island 1911A1 Tac 2011 10mm
that brass transfer on the slide is not normal. as a 10mm owner, the recoil is "stout" (on par with full power 357 magnum). as far as launching brass into the stratosphere, never had that problem. I was having a crapload of f.t.f. jams at first, but a quick adjustment in the extractor, and she's a dream to shoot now.

Thanks for your opinions.
Makes my upcoming purchase of a 10mm a little difficult now.
I had been thinking of plunking down the cash for an STI but now maybe I'll save some money and try one of these...

Mine has the same brass marks, this is with only 60 rounds fired. My brass goes about 15 ft in every direction to my right. All my glocks eject the brass into a single pile almost, this thing sende them everywhere , i assume from bouncing off the moving slide.
