Re: How do you carry your 1911???
The leather was soft (or had softened with oils from regular use) and when he holstered his gun, it formed a crease which pressed against the face of the trigger. Then when he twisted around to fasten his seat belt, the gun went off.
This is admittedly an unusual case, but NDs while holstering are fairly common with GLOCK type triggers. Usually it’s the retention strap on the holster or an article of clothing that gets inside the trigger guard and pulls the trigger. In fact, there’s only one situation for NDs with GLOCKs that’s more common than this: cleaning.

Re: How do you carry your 1911???
Once I found a website documenting a guy who shot his own leg. It started out with little detail about his life. By the end it turns out he was a mailman. He tried to go back to work but couldnt. The bullet had disrupted his lymphatic system and the uncontrolled swelling wouldn't let him stand and walk long enough. Now I bring this up to say stupid ideas spread on the internet can have life altering consequences to uninitiated and gullible.
Second, if knocking off a safety slows your draw you arnt doing it right. Like chewing gum and walking, it is two thing done at the same time. As the muzzle clears the gun is rocked on target as the safety is disengaged.

A sear is ment to release. It is designed to release. Therefore it will release. Like a volcano erupting the only question is when. I would like to know when. That is why I create the conditions for it to happen when it has my undivided attention.

What happens if:
- a live round is in the chamber
- the thumb safety is disengaged.
- there is an obstruction in the trigger guard (for instance a shirt tail or the draw string on the bottom of a wind breaker)
- the user presses down on the grip as he re-holsters the gun.
And that's why I think the glock "safety" is a POS.
The 1911 safeties are a great arrangement. I use all of them because I am a fallible human, surrounded by other fallible humans, and other random crap in the universe.American by BIRTH, Infidel by CHOICE

Plastic guns get plast holster.
Great reminder to always check the condition of your holsters.
Also, scrutinize the construction before you buy. Reinforced leather holsters are much better at being holsters for those who actually use them.
Never reholstering in a hurry should be a priority, you might need to get your gun out fast, but you have all the time you need to put it away.
