Debris in brand new suppressor.
Picked my Osprey 45 yesterday, and got a chance to test it out about an hour ago. Ran a magazine of Speer Lawman 147gr through it, and noticed that there was rattling on the inside.
It didn't seem like I experienced any baffle strikes, so I shook all the debris out, and put two more rounds through it. Same thing.
This is what came out.
Best cell picture I could get out of my cell phone of the first baffle.
Host gun was a factory threaded M&P9, using a SilencerCo piston.
Any insight? Obviously I plan on calling SilencerCo once they open on Monday. This thread will just tie me over for the weekend.

Re: Debris in brand new suppressor.
That looks like partially burnt powder. Not the cause of your rattle.
Edit: Looked at the picture again and it does not look like the baffles are centered. Probably what is loose. Can you open it up for cleaning? make sure everything is centered and tight when you put it back together.Last edited by Delkal; June 17th, 2017 at 02:02 PM.

Re: Debris in brand new suppressor.
Can't take the Osprey apart. Baffles are centered.
Im thinking there may have just been unburnt powder, but lots of it (for only having 17 rounds ran through it).

Is it a heavy rattle like there is chunks or a sand rattle.

Re: Debris in brand new suppressor.
Depending on the powder used, unburned flakes build up rather quickly.

More of a sandy rattle I suppose. This is my first time shooting anything suppressed, so just wanted to proceed with precaution as I'm completely inexperienced and don't want to ruin my investment right off the bat.

Unburned powder or filler that won't burn. Some ammo has it, some doesn't. You never would see it with out the can on, blows right out the muzzle.
You're good, don't worry about it.
Blow your can out with compressed air if you want.
Shot some Fiochi today at a rental and it was all thru the Uzi with the can on when I took it apart to clean tonight.HGW, llc ~ Title 1 & NFA sales/manufacturing ~ Transfers - Title 1 $20 - NFA $50

You wouldn't believe the amount of unburnt powder we sweep up on the club's indoor range.
