    Default S&W 357 model 19

Police trades for $379 at AIM. Couldn't resist. I'm sure they will sell out quickly.

Just saw that. Glad I checked my email at dinner and ordered from my phone at Outback - lol.

SMITH & WESSON MODEL 19 .357 MAGNUM REVOLVERS
It's very rare to find S&W Mod. 19 Law enforcement trade-in's so this is a great opportunity! The 19 is Smith's blued light 'K' Frame square butt, 6rd .357Mag/.38spl Revolver with Adjustable Rear Sights. These have been used by law enforcement so expect very functional revolvers with various amounts of holster wear. Only a few dozen available!!

Check the forcing cone for cracks at the bottom where it's flat to clear the crane. 19s have a rep for cracking there if high velocity low bullet weight ammo was used, or if it fired a lot of hit loads in general.

Yep, that's why I passed right over these, besides that's a premium price imo for a luck of the draw buy.

It's why I sold off every K Frame 357 I owned. One cracked on me in the 80s. Today, it's hard to find good used Model 19 barrels, and Model 19 parts kits on GB and other auctions bring stupid $$$. I'll stick to my Ruger Speed, Security, and Service Sixes and 3" GP100s, thanks.

Practical question if I may. Since the forcing cone is an extension of barrel, why couldn't the barrel be replaced with a the barrel for a Model 14 or other .38 Spec. S&W with the same barrel profile? At least for someone who wanted a hard working revolver and didn't care about "collectability".
