OC with badge next to gun smart or dumb?
I was walking by city hall in Philly this morning and saw a guy OCing. No big deal. Legal with a permit and no reason to assume he does not have one. Then I notice he has a badge right next to his firearm in his belt but also noticed he was not carrying handcuffs. Intrigued if he was actually a cop caught a close up glance at his badge while waiting for a green light to cross. His badge merely said security agent and had some generic kind of insignia as the impression.
Left me with the question that is it a smart or dumb idea to carry a badge openly displayed when OCing? It is not illegal as long as you aren't trying to impersonate a cop. It might give a random member of yr public solace when you are OCing and maybe even avoid a police encounter. Or it could make people think that OCing is bad because they are just all wannabe cops?
I don't know and have yet to formulate an opinion. Curious to hear what others have to say.
EDIT----
To be absolutely clear I do NOT want to engage in this practice. I merely saw someone doing it and wanted to bring it up for discussion. I am also NOT advocating this practice. Again merely saw someone doing it and wanted to bring it up for discussion.Last edited by archon; June 12th, 2017 at 03:53 PM.

If he doesn't have the sash, then it's just dumb.

Re: OC with badge next to gun smart or dumb?
Why is it "dumb" or "stupid though? I'm not saying it may not be dumb or stupid, just would like a little bit more of rationale behind the thinking.
Would it be similarly dumb to say wear a suit when you OC because someone is more likely to think you just might be a bodyguard or plain clothed cop? Again, it isn't illegal to dress or wear things that might give someone the impression that you serve a certain role in society even though you don't hold that role. It is illegal to say pretend to be an actual cop, but just mimicking appearance or mannerism of is completely legal.
