SGL 43 French Creek range
Does anyone know if the French Creek range is open? The PA Game Commission website states it was closed to the public on June 7. As usually, they don't update their site as to the reason or for how long.

Re: SGL 43 French Creek range
I planned on going up there soon to break-in and sight my new rifle. Never shot at the game land ranges before, what's the process of shooting there? Like how do I put the target out etc? What is etiquette for shooting at the SGL range? Yes I have my Hunting License as permit to shoot at range.

Re: SGL 43 French Creek range
Just my personal thoughts, the free range gets flooded w too many people and with no stationed range officer it gets pretty crazy the amount of untrained/unsafe acts Ive seen occur there. Secondly if your coming all the way from Philly Im sure you can find at least a handful of private ranges between you and French Creek. The amount of travel time and expense your saving will be worth paying a membership somewhere.

Re: SGL 43 French Creek range
Its been awhile since Ive lived in Philly but there used to be the Holmesburg gun club that had a 100 yard range. Im bad at remembering the other places names but there are definitely some outside the city. I would suggest looking up the different types of local competition organizations including handgun. If there having comps there, they usually have nice ranges, classes events etc.
