I'm not surprised by this, I wont even go to their shop any more to even see what they have in stock any more.
The employees are worthless kids in my opinion. They always seem more interested in hanging out and not helping customers. I strongly believe customer service is key for gun shops. If I'm not getting good service from a local shop why shouldn't I just buy offline?

Sounds like a worthless gun shop. What did they put down for the barrel length on the paper work?

I think the point is IF you intend on making it a pistol, you have to do the Pa Record of Sale form along with the 4473 to make it a legal pistol. If only a 4473 is done, then it's a long gun. Like a T/C contender. If you buy it as a pistol, you can put any barrel on it regardless of length (with corresponding stock or grip of course) but if bought as a rifle, it can only be a rifle. Now, how would they know? I guess they would never know, unless you had the unfortunate occasion to have to use it and its gets run through the "illegal" database.....but that's another story.....

No, a stripped lower is an 'other' as outlined by PSP some time ago. If you do the PA SP-411 form as pistol then put a stock on it, I would be more worried about getting hit for an illegal SBR as a violation of the NFA, which would be a serious federal offense.

Gotta be the single most convoluted issue ever discussed on this forum.

It doesn't help when people post shit that they believe to be true - but isn't.

Is there a sticky for this? I despise stickies, but if there ever was a topic that needed a clear and definitive reference that people could be pointed to, this is it.

Why? It's perfectly legal to go from handgun to rifle.

    What piss poor employees.

OP, if you bought a brand new stripped lower and had it shipped to them, you can legally build it into a rifle or pistol regardless of how the questions on the 4473 were filled out and how they logged it out of thier bound book.

The FFL is responsible for any errors and you received bunk information from them.

If you want to build a pistol on the new receiver then build away.
