From Loctite website: Cured product can be removed with a combination of soaking in methylene chloride and mechanical abrasion such as a wire brush.

For disassembly, heat parts up to 482°F (250°C) and separate parts while hot.

I usually use brake cleaner on a rag or paper towel and some elbow grease. Put another scope on my 700 last year and that is what I used to remove the old loctite from the receiver.

Got it off. Thanks for the suggestions. Various chemicals I had on hand were ineffective. Hair dryer no where near hot enough.
Heat from hot air gun, soft wooden blade, elbow grease and liberal use of foul language worked.
The rifle is over 40 years old so I imagine the original application occurred at that time. When starting to disassemble and the screws to the base wouldn't budge I suspected some form of adhesive was used
After messing up the screw heads I drilled the heads off. Heat from hot air gun liberated the base, Surprisingly the screws to the base had no loctite on them, just the underside of the base, However when it was assembled some of the loctite must of adhered to the screws as they were frozen to the base.
Impression if you really want something to hold, and be a bitch to disassemble red loctite will do it.
However I'll stick to the blue loctite.
It ain't what they call you, it's what you answer to.

Lemme guess - you used that to cut PVC? Or maybe railroad tracks?

Looks like one heck of an easily explainable tool that magically shows up one day in the garage....

Looks like a Pace electronic assembly unit. I miss having a factory to play in.

That unit has a hot air gun for surface mount work among other things.

Red loctite is pretty much impervious to every solvent save aircraft stripper (methyl chloride...evil, nasty shit that destroys everything it touches, much like a Democrat House and Senate).

    Heat is definitely the ticket!

When you put it back together, use loc-tite blue.
