    Default M1 Garand

Anyone shooting this new Hornady 30-06 Springfield 168 gr ELD® M1 GARAND Ammo in their Garand? And if so what do you think of it?

I have not shot the new ELD ammo in the Garand however I have shot the old A-Max loads. They shot better than I could and I could repeatedly hit my club's 6" steel at 200yds.

As for the ELD bullets I have seen sub-MOA performance out of pretty much any gun I've put them through with a little load work up.

So long story short they should work great in your Garand or any other 30-06 you decide to put them through.

I'm still shooting up my supply of Greek surplus @ .50 a round. It's capable of shooting all 10's at 200 yards. I can't see spending a $1.40 a round unless I was competing at the nationals and needed more X's to be competitive.

I understand that but I need ammo to hunt with.

Ah! So you won't be firing more than a few rounds a season! You could save a little with the PPU Garand ammo. I doubt you'd see any difference in minute of deer accuracy.

I tried the PPU ammo it doesn't feed reliably in my rifles I've had rounds jam so bad with that ammo the bullet was pushed back inside the case.

One nice thing about the .50 stuff is that it never malfunctions

Yes I never had any problems with the PPU150gr FMJ but the 150gr soft points jam up from time to time feeding
