Re: Calling All SKS Experts!
Also, many of the old plastic kits used the original tube, pin and ferrule so you may just need the wood piece itself.

Re: Calling All SKS Owners!
You have a 59/66.
You'll pay up for those parts.
As someone said earlier, there was someone making an aftermarket gas system for those things, maybe you can find it on the internet.
There are some of those floating around with bad bores and broken stocks, maybe put a WTB under the WTB section over on Gunboards and someone who has one of the junk ones can help you out.
Yours is an "updated" M59.
Here is one of my M59's:

Re: Calling All SKS Owners!
I might, might have a complete hg and tube at home.
I'm only about 5% sure that I do.
I bought a bunch of miscellaneous parts from a show a few years back to get a magazine, I know it had a gas piston I already sold and a complete SKS bolt, maybe there was a complete tube in there iirc.
I know I don't have that pin.
I'll check later this evening.

Re: Calling All SKS Owners!
He has a 59/66.
The gas tube, front sight base and bayonet are their own animal.
Also there has been discussion whether the Yugo firing pins are also specific to Yugos only.
Maybe a gas tube from a "regular" SKS will retrofit, but on that I have no idea since I own no 59/66

Re: Calling All SKS Owners!
Thanks for all the info! Nice M59 you have there!
I got it now. The M59 didn't have the Grenade launcher. It was added later in 1966 hence the 59/66 designation (had to look that up). Plus I understand that their are 4 variations of the 59/66.
I really got this rifle as a fun shooter that I can use in CMP events. That's the reason I want to return it to the original configuration. I took it out last Sunday and fired 20 round at 100 yards. I was impressed with the mild recoil. I was shooting steel cased Wolf and it grouped pretty well, my first group of 10 rounds was 3 MOA (resting the rifle on my range bag) It was shooting 12" low and 5" right. I made some elevation changes and shot several 2 round groups after each change. Those groups were 2 MOA". The bore is dark but shinny and I can't find a single crack in the stock. A previous owner stripped the stock and didn't refinish it. It has the SN stenciled on the side of the stock and someone a long time ago carved the word Meho' in small letters on the same side of the stock. The trigger was pretty bad compared to other milsurps I shoot. I took the trigger system apart and trued up the sear surfaces and polished them. The trigger feels better now even though it takes forever to break.
I also need some stripper clips. Can't seem to locate a source for the "good" ones.Last edited by Hawk; June 7th, 2017 at 02:11 PM.

Re: Calling All SKS Experts!
There was a guy in Romania or somewhere on EBay selling real stripper clips.
I bought 100 for $30 shipped iirc.
Maybe he is still on there.
