Older Glock question
OK, I got into Glocks a long time ago. I have a Gen 1 and Gen 2 guns purchased in 1989-90 and none of these have ever been subjected to any factory upgrades, including the infamous 5 piece update of lore.
How critical is it that I should get these updated? I have heard conflicting opinions. If I should get these updated, what is the best way to accomplish this, and at least cost? Does these being all original affect value if I decide to sell?
Thanks for your input.Illegitimus non carborundum est

Re: Older Glock question
Following this post as I too have an early gen-2 that's never been upgraded - I like the trigger/action too much to have it messed with.

Re: Older Glock question
Last I heard Glock was still upgrading the gen 1 for free. Not sure about the gen 2 but last time I looked into it was about three years ago. Its not particularly cheap to ship a pistol to Georgia though.
If I was to buy a gen one I would prefer it was not upgraded.DDG-8 "Sine Timore"

Re: Older Glock question
Are we talking "improvements" that the factory is doing for free, or product recall stuff for the sake of safety?
I'd have to go dig out the paperwork to know when I bought it, but it's been nearly 20 years.I called to check my ZIP CODE!....DY-NO-MITE!!!

Re: Older Glock question
Don't do it. Sent my purchased in March 1988 G19 in and it came back a Gen2 Gen3 hybrid with unmatched serial numbers. They said the frame was cracked. I said BS and asked for it back as is
They refused and I had to get it back through an FFL and have a PICS check for my own frankengun

If anything, buy the parts yourself, reasonably cheap and DIY or find a Glock armorerLast edited by PocketProtector; June 2nd, 2017 at 06:48 AM.
