I used to love Metallica, but now I feel they have sold out and went toooooo mainstream for me.

Spending money on slutty girls isn't rock&roll anymore?

They haven't had a good album since "and justice for all".

I'd say the cutoff was ride the lightning, maybe master of puppets. I'd say their best stuff was written by dave mustaine.

I was never truly a metallica fan (SLAYER RULES!), but they did have some solid stuff. After they did the napster thing, that was the final straw for me.

And now there's this - http://www.roadrunnerrecords.com/Bla...sitemID=103016 - james hetfield puts up a fence to keep people off a trail on his property that had be open to the public for years. yeah, it's private property and he can do whatever he wants with it, but it just seems like a dick move.

I agree they peaked with master of puppets, ride the lightning is more kick ass, but kill ‘em all was true metallica IMO. Too bad
Mustaine got the boot. The sound was completely different

I'll give them up to ...and justice for all and that's it. Dave was a major driving force behind their sound and could have survived without him but when Cliff died that was the end of Metallica, IMHO.
