Having fired a Contender in 308,
Check that. The .308 Winchester is not a Contender cartridge; the operating pressure is too high. I do not believe that there are any barrels made for it by anyone. T/C offers the Encore chambered in ..308.
That is a handful but manageable with bullets 150 grain and lighter.

Coulda been an Encore, Pete. Wasn't mine; the owner was also shooting at the same club range I was and had taken a keen interest in my Ruger #1 in 405 Winchester. I let him fire a few rounds and he of course had to reciprocate with his scoped, rifle cartridge chambered abomination of a handgun. I fired it from a rest, hit the 100 yd gong, and said "Cool. Thanks."

Everytime I ever fired one of these I bled no matter what grip I used lol. Some tiny part of that gun will always find a way to cut you under recoil.

For some reason my brain just generated a picture of you throwing a moon clip with six .308 Wins into a gargantuan stainless revolver.

Fortunately it was a still photo, because the next moment would not likely be pretty...

It hurts, but I never bleed from it.
