Question for our Military Veteran members. What do you carry?
I just thought it would be interesting to see if 1911s, Berettas or Sigs will dominate.
I'll start off....6 years Navy, 86-92. I own a 1911A1, Beretta 92 and Sig 226 Navy but as I type this a Glock 27 is on my belt as we wait for our table.Last edited by bripro; June 5th, 2017 at 11:15 PM.

Re: Question for our Military Veteran members. What do you carry?
4 years Army. 86-90 Armored- when I served in Germany was issued a 1911 for sidearm. PCS'd Stateside and the Berretta M9 was the issued sidearm.
My first personally purchased handgun was a Glock 27 in ~1996 & still carry it. I have added a Glock 42, Glock 22 & Ruger LC9s to my inventory.
*ETA: On my want list is a Rock Island Armory 1911 in 10mm"It seems that the Constitution is more or less guidelines than actual rules"

Re: Question for our Military Veteran members. What do you carry?
Army 1985-2002
First pistol they handed me was a 1911, at the Division Commander's match in 1988. Took 2nd in Novice class behind a guy they wouldn't let use his own match pistol, and 4th overall behind a member of the Division pistol team and a cop. Was awarded the Excellence in Competition Badge and offered a spot on the Division team.
Was around for the transition to the Beretta. I can *shoot* it just fine, I just can't manipulate the controls as well as I'd like (short fingers). Only ever missed 1 target at the range.
At my side as I type this is my EDC 1911. Her twin sister is already packed up for tomorrow's flight to Texas for the IDPA State Championship match. I own no other handguns (7" AR pistol in .223 Wylde doesn't count for the purpose of this discussion), nor do I feel the need when these work for me.
YMMV

Re: Question for our Military Veteran members. What do you carry?
USMC 1979-1983
First duty gun was a Beretta 92FS and off-duty was a S&W 6906. Carried those for a few years.
Moved on to and currently carry a Sig P220 on-duty with a Glock 26 as off-duty carry. Also added a S&W 642 as a BUG for on and off-duty carry.
